Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch

USLEEP is the definitive community-driven bugfix overhaul for Skyrim Legendary Edition, merging the individual Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn patches into one master file. It corrects over 2,000 quest, script, AI, crafting, and physics errors — from fixing the infamous 'Meridia's Beacon' teleport bug to restoring missing dialogue conditions for followers like Cicero. Players install it because it stabilizes the game engine, prevents CTDs from broken navmeshes, and ensures quests can't become permanently stuck, making it the mandatory foundation for any serious modded playthrough.

🎯 Tips & Tricks

Correct load order for maximum stability

Place USLEEP.esp directly after Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, HearthFires.esm, and Dragonborn.esm in that exact order in your mod manager (e.g., in Vortex, use the 'Plugins' tab and drag it). Never put it before Update.esm, or its fixes will be overwritten, causing quest flags to reset mid-game and NPCs to lose dialogue.

Clean your DLC masters with xEdit

Before activating USLEEP, run TES5Edit (or SSEEdit for SE) and use 'Apply Filter for Cleaning' on Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, HearthFires.esm, and Dragonborn.esm to remove deleted references. This prevents USLEEP from conflicting with those deleted records, which can cause infinite loading screens when entering certain cells like Fort Dawnguard.

Disable USLEEP's crafting fixes if using CACO

If you use Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul, open the USLEEP plugin in xEdit and delete the 'Alchemy' and 'Crafting' records under 'Constructible Object' and 'Ingredient' — specifically the ones that change potion durations or add new recipes. Otherwise, CACO's changes will be overwritten, resulting in broken alchemy effects like 'Restore Health' not scaling with alchemy perks.

🔧 Troubleshooting

CTD when entering Solstheim with USLEEP and Open Cities Skyrim

Open Cities Skyrim (OCS) is incompatible with USLEEP's navmesh fixes for Dragonborn's Raven Rock. Load OCS's .esp AFTER USLEEP, but also install the 'Open Cities Skyrim - USLEEP Patch' from the OCS Nexus page. If you skip the patch, the game will crash upon fast-traveling to the docks because the navmesh records conflict.

Quest 'The Man Who Cried Wolf' won't trigger after installing USLEEP

This happens if you had started the quest before installing USLEEP and your save has a stale quest stage. Use console command 'SetStage MS11 10' to restart the quest, then immediately save and reload. For a permanent fix, ensure USLEEP is loaded before any mod that edits the Solitude guard dialogue (e.g., Guard Dialogue Overhaul) — put GDO's .esp after USLEEP but before your final patch.
