Settlement Supplies Expanded
fallout-4 — Mods & Enhancements
Settlement Supplies Expanded (SSE) adds over 400 new buildable objects to the Workshop menu, spanning categories like furniture, lights, decorations, storage, and structural pieces — all using vanilla assets only (no new textures or meshes, so no performance hit). It includes functional items like working ceiling fans, wall-mounted tool racks, and pre-war office chairs, plus decorative items like bookshelves with actual books, kitchen counters, and bathroom fixtures. Players install it to fill the gaps in the base game's limited settlement object list, making it possible to build realistic homes, stores, or military bases without resorting to mods that add new meshes (which often break with DLC or other mods).

🎯 Tips & Tricks
Open Workshop mode (Tab), then navigate to 'Furniture' > 'Beds' — SSE adds 'Double Bed with Frame' and 'Single Bed with Frame' that are actually functional (you can sleep) unlike the vanilla static beds. For lighting, go to 'Power' > 'Lights' and look for 'Wall Lamp (Copper)' and 'Ceiling Light (Industrial)' — these have proper shadows and don't flicker. Use the search bar (R key on PC) and type 'SSE' to filter all new items in one list.
SSE adds 'Ammo Box (Wooden)' and 'Toolbox (Red)' under 'Containers'. These are NOT connected to the workshop inventory by default. To fix this, open the console, click the container, and type 'setownership'. Then, go to the settlement workshop, open the transfer menu, and 'Store All Junk' — the container will now share its inventory with the workshop. For automatic sharing, use the 'Workshop Framework' mod and set the container's 'Workshop' flag via its MCM.
Under 'Structures' > 'Wood' > 'Pre-war' you'll find 'Wall with Window (Double)' and 'Floor (4x4) with Hole'. These snap perfectly to vanilla floors but have a unique 'snap point' that allows stacking without the usual gap. To build a second floor, place a 'Floor (4x4) with Hole' on the first floor, then use the 'Staircase (Metal)' from SSE — it will snap directly to the hole, creating a seamless transition. This is much easier than using vanilla stairs that require fiddly placement.
🔧 Troubleshooting
Conflict with 'Snap'n Build' or 'Place Everywhere' causing new items to not appear in the Workshop menu after a game update.
SSE uses an ESP that needs to be loaded after 'Fallout4.esm' and all DLC. In Vortex, set a 'Load After' rule for 'SettlementSuppliesExpanded.esp' to 'Snap'nBuild.esp' and 'PlaceEverywhere.esp'. If items still don't show, open the console and type 'bat rebuildworkshop' (a script that refreshes the menu). Also, ensure you have the latest version of 'Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch' (UF4P) — SSE requires its keywords to register correctly.
Missing items like 'Ceiling Fan' or 'Wall Clock' after installing 'Homemaker' or 'Settlement Objects Expansion Pack' (SOEP).
SSE and Homemaker both add items with the same Form IDs in some cases. Use 'FO4Edit' to load both mods and check for conflicts. The quick fix is to load SSE's ESP AFTER Homemaker in your load order (right after in Vortex). If that doesn't work, download the 'SSE - Homemaker Patch' from the Nexus (search 'Settlement Supplies Expanded Homemaker Patch') — it resolves all ID conflicts and adds a merged menu category.
